My Most Loved from Innisfree Skincare

Happy September everyone!

I’m a sucker for K-beauty and K-skincare! I never really was, because I used to find their makeup too ‘mild’ and their skincare to be too ‘simple’, but now almost my entire skincare routine is filled with Korean products!

Here’s a brand that I’ve known since the beginning of time – Innisfree! They pride themselves as Korea’s first ‘natural’ skincare brand. I say ‘natural’ because their products are not 100% natural but are formulated with an average of 80% naturally-derived ingredients. As of 2020, they are cruelty free!

I have striked off the above statement about being cruelty-free as I have found too many conflicting statements that might indicate they are NOT cruelty free. I do not want to give anyone the wrong information. As of 16/09/2020, Innisfree is NOT cruelty free.

In this post, I will focus on their skincare as it is what I use on a daily basis now.

I would highly recommend you check them out at YesStyle if they aren’t readily available to you and you can use my code MARSYBUN for 10% off your purchase. This post is NOT sponsored by YesStyle or Innisfree and are all my own opinions.

First up, we have the Jeju Volcanic Pore Toner!

This is a toner I used daily but only in the mornings as I have oily skin and the volcanic powder in it is meant to absorb sebum production. This product is interesting because there is a mix of volcanic powder and toner water and you need to shake it before use. It smells very pleasant and soothing and is not sticky at all. From the Innisfree website, it states:

“The Jeju Volcanic range has a natural ingredient that forms when lava from a volcano eruption solidifies on Jeju Island, hence the unique name. It is excellent for absorbing sebum and dirt.”

I would highly recommend this to anyone and you can use it even if you don’t have oily skin!

Another item I use in the morning is the Bija Trouble Lotion!

This is a lightweight, non sticky moisturiser that I use underneath my makeup. As the name suggests, it is great for acne-prone and sensitive skin. The entire Bija Trouble line is great for people who suffer with oily skin too. This moisturiser also contains salicylic acid for blemish care.

From the Innisfree website,

“Bija seeds are a rare ingredient that can only be used after they have survived 20 years in the wild. Its hardy properties gently smooth skin and enhance the skin’s natural defense system.”

Sounds great and is great!  I also absolutely love the smell of this – it’s fresh and almost calamine-y which is very soothing to me.

Who doesn’t love a face mask? I do! Their Real Squeeze Face Masks are a treat.

As you can tell from the image above, there is a lot to choose from and your needs will definitely be met! My personal favourites are the aloe vera ones, the cucumber ones, the rose ones and the blackberry ones.

How to use these masks –

  1. After cleansing, use toner to refine skin texture.
  2. Unfold and place the mask on face, avoiding lip and eye areas.
  3. Leave on for 10-20 minutes.
  4. Discard the mask and gently pat in for further absorption.

There is also a LOT of liquid that comes with these masks and I try not to waste the remaining in the little sachet that comes with it, so sometimes I rub it into my arms and legs as an extra moisturiser.

I was never a big fan of eye creams until I met their Jeju Orchid Eye Cream.

This is one of the more pricey products I own from them but I didn’t even buy it – I was given a sample pot about a month back when I made a large purchase (whoops!) and it has lasted me a pretty long time, long enough for me to know that I would love to splurge on a full sized tub one day! This product smells amazing and is so rich and creamy for under the eyes. I love it!

An exceptional antioxidant, Orchidelixir™, together with functional active ingredients, works to nourish overly tired skin and treat signs of skin aging in order to yield healthier skin.
I’d never heard of Orchidelixir until now, and it is apparently the “result of several years of effort and research on Jeju orchids that feature the remarkable vitality of being able to flower in the snow”. How amazing does that sound?

We all need some suncare in our lives! The Intensive Triple Care Sunscreen came into play for me here.

I never liked wearing sunscreen because of how oily my skin was and the fact that I wore makeup everyday made me want to put less oil-based items on my face. I don’t like the feeling of heaviness on my skin so I avoided sunscreen but what a big mistake that was! Over the past few months, I have been watching loads of Korean skincare videos on YouTube and it dawned on me that it was very important step I was missing. I live in Singapore where it’s summer all year round which makes it especially crucial for me. This sunscreen has SPF 50 in it which is brilliant.

I also found that wearing sunscreen daily helped with my acne scarring a little bit. It did lighten up the dark pigmentation from years and years of constant battles with acne and for that I am so grateful!

Last but not least, why not slot in some hair care too? Innisfree’s Repairing Hair Mist is something I use every day.

I love hair mists and I stay away from oils as I find it harder to gage how much to apply and it usually ends up with my already oily scalp feeling greasier than before. This is a very light hair mist but I also find it is very moisturising. My favourite part of it has to be the smell – I would compare it to the smell of fresh laundry which is very pleasant.

Innisfree has lots of products that I have yet to try but I am very excited for. This is not all I love! Do leave me a comment if you’re interested in seeing a post of my favourite Innisfree makeup products.

  1. I have to admit, I am terrible with skin care and probably only know the bare minimum but I love reading posts like these because I always feel like I learn something. I liked that they had a huge variety of face masks which is something I’ve actually never tried before but maybe I should give them a go. I’ll definitely check out the cucumber one. Thanks for sharing x

  3. I’ve recently gotten into skincare more because of Kdrama and went on a shopping spree of Innisfree products too. I can’t wait to try out the Triple Care sunscreen 🙂 Would you know if the hair mist is okay for curly hair too? And yes to a post on your fave Innisfree makeup products!

    • I would think that the mist is suitable for all types of hair as it is for damaged hair in general, but they also have a hair mist that is specific for curly hair called My Hair Recipe Curl Up Hair Mist which might be more suitable for you 😊
