June Beauty First Impressions – Clio, Focallure, I Heart Revolution & More!

I have stopped buying as many beauty products as I used to in the past mainly because I want to focus more on skincare in 2022. In the past 2 months, however, I realise I have tried quite a number of ‘new’ beauty products that have been drugstore priced from Shopee and YesStyle.

This post is as casual as it can get. Let’s just have a cuppa and talk about some random beauty products I’ve sampled recently!

Please note that all products linked are discounted specially for you and if you purchase any linked item, I will get a tiny bit of commission! If clicking links aren’t your thing, do use code MARISSA420 at checkout on YesStyle for discounts on all products storewide!

I Heart Revolution – Peach Delight Mattifying Primer

I’m usually very wary of tubed primers. I’m an Elf Putty Primer girl myself! I find that a lot of liquid primers clog my pores and break me out so I’ve stayed away from them, but when I saw the I Heart Revolution Peach Delight Mattifying Primer retail for only $14 during a sale, I thought why not?

This primer is suitable for oily skin and comes packed with vitamins C and E – who doesn’t want a bit of vitamin in their makeup primer?

It smells delicious, exactly like peaches and is indeed mattifying! I’m quite pleased with this product. It does need a little shake because the formula is quite liquidy, but it dries down matte. If you’re a fan of tacky primers, this may not be the one for you but I personally get along with it quite well.

Focallure’s MIX Blusher in Fearless

Now.. I have many questions about this brand. It is incredibly dubious. Focallure is one of those brands that make mysteriously cheap makeup (this blusher was $4), is a brand from China with no real contact number, and they sell on ‘sketchy’ websites such as Wish and AliExpress, which are not cosmetic websites.

I bought mine from Shopee, and only because of one reason – it looks like a dupe of Dior’s Backstage Rosy Glow Blush. And I have to say, if you don’t mind the sketchy-ness of the brand, this is a great dupe when it comes to colour.

However, I do not think I will be buying from Focallure again. Reason being is after I bought and tried the product, I realised I never actually saw an ingredient list on the Shopee listing. I had to personally go to their website to find an ingredient list and sadly, it has talc, which is what I’ve been trying to avoid. But that was my mistake for not checking up earlier.

Another thing that comes up when the brand is googled is they have had an FDA Advisory against their liquid concealer in shades 1 to 4 in the Philippines due to having no certificate of product notification which is necessary when selling any cosmetic product. This is a violation when it comes to legally selling cosmetics online and if that doesn’t tell you that they may be doing something fishy, I don’t know what will.

Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Hibiscus

I’m a long time user of Burt’s Bees products and I used their lip balms all through uni when I first started buying lip balms (it’s what happens when you move from Singapore to the UK). Their tinted lip balms have been so popular on TikTok and when I saw someone selling them for $11 on Shopee, I knew I had to try it.

I just want to say, as someone who generally hates lip sticks or any lip product that isn’t a lip balm, this product is amazing. It gives a nice sheer tint to your lips without feeling heavy like lip stick or even a lip tint. And obviously, it has its hydrating properties!

If you hate using lip products or hate the feeling of having a layer of something on your lips but yet you want a bit of colour on your lips, you should totally try this product!

Clio’s Extreme Gelpresso Pencil Liner in the shade Black Brown

Clio has been very well known for their eye makeup for as long as I can remember. Their Extreme Gelpresso Pencil Liner is my new favourite brown eyeliner!

I never trust most things that say they are waterproof, but this one is pretty good! For some reason, my eyes have been watering a lot lately and this eyeliner has actually stayed on for my 13 hour work shifts – pleasantly surprised. I also really like the unique packaging, it makes the pencil liner much easier to grip if you’ve got unsteady hands like me.

Clio’s Twinkle Pop Glittering Eye Stick in the shade Shy Me

I’m no stranger to Clio eye products and I have liked their products for a long time. I’ve also recently been a fan of glitter under the eyes and this glittering eye stick works a charm!

I chose the shade Shy Me because pinks generally look good on my eyes and against my skin tone. The colour is truly beautiful, and not overly glittery to the point where you look like you could be crying. It is so easy to apply and requires literally no skill – a toddler could do it! If you’re a fan of the subtle eye glitter look, try one if Clio’s glitter eye sticks!

Did I forget to mention, this is so god damn affordable at only £3 a stick?!

What did you enjoy in the recent months? Anything noteworthy that you would recommend I try? Let me know in the comments!

Stay safe, stay sparkly!
